CNC Machining Aluminum Housings for a German Automotive Electronics Supplier
A production case focused on thin-wall stability, sealing-surface accuracy and consistent black-anodized appearance across a 1,200-piece order.
From Customer Requirement to Stable Production
The customer required a precision housing with internal pockets, threaded mounting holes, thin walls and a flat sealing surface. Every housing had to fit the PCB and cover consistently, while the visible exterior remained free from scratches, clamp marks and uneven anodizing.
Manufacturing Challenge
High material removal created a risk of thin-wall distortion and sealing-surface movement. Excessive clamping pressure could deform the housing, while unnecessary tight tolerances on non-mating features increased cost and inspection time.
Our Engineering Solution
Our engineers separated functional dimensions from general dimensions, retained ±0.02 mm on critical assembly interfaces and designed custom soft jaws. Roughing and finishing were separated to stabilize the material, and visible surfaces were protected throughout deburring, cleaning and anodizing.
How We Controlled the Process
Inspection at Every Critical Stage
Inspection requirements were defined before production so dimensional, functional and cosmetic risks could be controlled throughout the order.
Project Result
The complete batch was delivered to Germany on schedule. Final records showed a 99.6% first-pass acceptance rate. Assembly and sealing tests were completed without reported dimensional interference, and the customer subsequently placed a repeat order.
